A new Apple TV dock that includes the HDMI port is out and the company has confirmed it.
According to a report from The Verge, Apple has revealed a dock that does not include the HDMI interface and only has HDMI ports, and that includes an “Apple TV Dock.”
The Apple TV-like dock is described as being the first to include an HDMI interface.
The Apple TV docked in a dock for the first timeThe AppleTV docked has HDMI-only ports, which are more than twice the HDMI-capable standard found on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
Apple says the dock is “the most advanced HDMI accessory available on the market,” but it does not appear to have the same HDMI support as Apple’s current dock, which includes two HDMI inputs.
The company also says the AppleTV dock does not have the “Apple WatchKit” feature that has been added to many other Apple TV docks in recent years.
Instead, the Apple TV’s docked display uses a proprietary design that allows for a smaller and more efficient display, which is the same one that’s found in many other modern Apple TV accessories.
The only thing that distinguishes this AppleTV from other Apple TVs is the dock’s design, which looks nothing like the Apple TVs docked today.
Apple has been quietly ditching HDMI since 2016.
In 2018, Apple began releasing dock accessories that include a full HD display instead of just HDMI, but that did not extend to the Apple-branded dock.
Apple also discontinued its HDMI-to-HDMI adapter in 2018.
